A sunny afternoon dandelion picking

Spent an afternoon collecting dandelions for making wine! We collected about a gallon on a warm and sunny afternoon after a week of rain. They were harvested in an open, mowed field, but also were found in the shade of our front yard. There are many dandelion wine recipes out there. A quick search demonstrates that most of them call for orange, lemon, and sugar. Even my great-grandmother's recipe is the same. The key, we hear, is to add ginger root to the brew. A modern addition perhaps? Here is a link to the recipe we are trying out: http://www.twineagles.org/dandelion-wine-recipe.html

We also collected a bunch of greens for frying up with some bacon for dinner. They are slightly bitter, and prized for healthy properties.
