BRDC sends two Grayson County Students to the National Environmental Summit for High School Students

Blue Ridge Discovery Center is proud to be sponsoring Grace Vaughan and Lori Shupe of Grayson County High School with full scholarships to attend The National Environmental Summit for High School Students at Catawba College. The 5 day/4 night summit, entitled "Redesigning our Future" is organized by Center for the Environment at Catawba College, Rocky Mountain Institute, and Environmental Working Group. Youth, ages 14-17, from across the country will be learning leadership skills focused on environmental stewardship. Grace Vaughan 

Grace will be entering her junior year at Grayson county high school in the fall of 2015. She takes honor level classes as well as dual enrollment classes through wytheville community college while maintaining a 4.062 gpa. She has received awards for excellence in both math and science. Grace is a certified Microsoft office master and has passed all of the Microsoft exams including excel expert. She is a member of FBLA. Grace plays varsity softball and runs cross country. She was nominated to attend the NYLF medicine in Alanta GA for the summer of 2015. She enjoys being outdoors, reading and running.

Lori Shupe

Lori will be entering the 10th grade at Grayson County High School in the fall of 2015. She is on the honor roll and earns awards for excellence in the areas of Math and Language Arts. She is a member of the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). Lori has played JV volleyball and basketball for the past 2 years and also ran cross country, was on the golf team, and played softball. Lori was nominated to attend the National Youth Leaders Conference (NYLC) in Washington, DC during the summer of 2012, then again in Boston during the summer of 2013.
