At the end of August I was in the middle of removing a blackberry bramble when I found this Io caterpillar. My wife put it a container to keep it safe until we finished the job. After I photographed it, I put it in a blackberry patch that I won't be tearing out. The yellowish cast indicates that the caterpillar is a late, probably final, instar.
