Ambush Bug

This little guy looked like a piece of trash on my moth sheet last night (10/13)—until I took a close look. It was no more than a half-inch in length. This morning I did a search and found that the critter is an ambush bug, subfamily Phymatinae, and probably one of the jagged ambush bugs, Phymata. It hides in flowers and other colorful sites, preying on other insects, including some larger than itself.
