2009 - 2010 Activities, SW Virginia:

December 2, 2010. Grayson County High School, BRDC meets with the ECO club. Presentation on the New River Plateau, ecological treasures. We secured a partnership, and began discussions on visiting Blue Ridge treasures in 2011 to conduct BRDC's "Site-Section" project.

December 2, 2010. Tree Program Initiated at Grayson Highlands School. Students help BRDC volunteers plant 9 trees at the newly opened school. This marks the beginning of what will likely be a lasting and exciting partnership!

November 19, 2010. Two SWVA Boy Scout Troups secured the promise of two Blue Ridge Discovery Volunteers to help them with their Tracking Merit Badge work. For details on this two-part event: LINK

October 2, 2010. Flat Rock Church, geology presentation. Fred Newcomb offers a wonderful description of local geology, provides hands-on components, and fields questions. Article covering this event: LINK
