Explore rare high elevation habitats of the Blue Ridge
Join us for the third and final hike on Bluff Mountain where we can enjoy the extraordinary fall colors from Perkins Rock and the Bluff.
The Nature Conservancy's Bluff Mountain Nature Preserve is located in Ashe County, NC. The Bluff Mt. hike is a two mile loop of moderate difficulty through some of the Southern Appalachian's rarest ecologies, including a fen and a mesic glade. Be prepared for some steep ascent and decent. Hikers will meet at the Preserve's gate on Edwards Rd. at 1:30pm for an approximate hike of four hours.
Doug Monroe is a self taught naturalist and a long time volunteer at the preserve. The hike is free and first come first serve. Sign-up is required. For more information and reservations, contact Doug at 336-385-6507. Spaces on this hike are limited.
