Join us for our Summer BRDC Butterfly Count through the North American Butterfly Association! A butterfly count is an event that is organized for the purpose of identifying and counting butterflies in a specific geographical area, raising awareness and identifying any changes to butterfly habitats.
We would like to extend an invitation to all butterfly enthusiasts to join us in conducting the summer count on Saturday, June 3rd. Please note that butterfly surveys are weather dependent. An alternate date will be set if weather conditions are unsuitable.
The survey is scheduled to take place from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Please bring a water bottle and snacks/lunch, as well as a field guide and binoculars if you have them. Long pants and sturdy shoes are highly recommended. Due to parking limitations along the routes, carpooling may be necessary.
If you are interested, please email info@blueridgediscoverycenter.org or call the office at (276) 388-3155. Registration is required. We need to know in advance who will be surveying and where you are coming from so we can assign you to the most suitable section of the circle.
Hope to see you then!
