A final word about black lights and moth sheets

My  wife pointed out that I didn't address the question of how far apart the light(s) and sheet should be. As far as I know, there isn't a set answer. My quad lights are about 30" from the sheet. I've seen setups in which the light was inches away from the sheet. When I use a single CFL, I position it about a foot from the sheet.

Keep in mind that moths land everywhere including the sheet. This afternoon I used a step ladder to take a photo of a Geometer high on the garage wall. The Tuliptree Silkmoth spent the day on one of the posts that support the porch roof (on the side of the post away from the light—go figger).
