Members Event: Fall Butterfly Count

  • Blue Ridge Discovery Center 6402 Whitetop Rd Troutdale, VA 24378 (map)

Join us for our members-only Fall BRDC Butterfly Count through the North American Butterfly Association! A butterfly count is an event that is organized for the purpose of identifying and counting butterflies in a specific geographical area, raising awareness and identifying any changes to butterfly habitats.

We would like to extend an invitation to all butterfly enthusiasts to join us in conducting the fall count on Tuesday, September 3rd. Please note that butterfly surveys are weather dependent. An alternate date is Sunday, August 21st if weather conditions are unsuitable.

Please bring a water bottle and snacks/lunch, as well as a field guide and binoculars if you have them. Long pants and sturdy shoes are highly recommended. We also recommend dressing in layers. Due to parking limitations along the routes, carpooling may be necessary.

This event is a member-only event. Registration is required. Please register here- https://blueridgediscoverycenter.org/community-program-registration-form Additional information will be sent to registered participants prior to the event.

Please email info@blueridgediscoverycenter.org or call 276-388-3155 for more information.
