This BRDC signature event highlights the crown jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Southwest Virginia. The Mount Rogers area, which includes Virginia's three tallest peaks, has long fascinated scholars and explorers. Not only is there a wide variation in altitude, there are many different ecosystems and mini-ecosystems within a short drive or hike of each other. This area is a naturalist's dream come true.
February 13th-- Join the Blue Ridge Discovery Center Explorer's Club on an exploration of the avifauna of Burke's Garden. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
Join Blue Ridge Discovery Center's amateur astronomer and naturalist Evan Worrell as we explore heavenly bodies and the depths of the awe-inspiring universe in this intriguing hour-long program starting at 6:00pm on Point Lookout Mountain (meeting between 5:15 - 5:30 at the Food City Parking lot in Independence). Evan will help you identify constellations and talk about their ancient mythologies but the real treat is the peak of the Geminid meteor shower just after sunset.
