LOCATION

Situated at the base of Virginia’s highest peaks (Mount Rogers and Whitetop Mountains), 15 minutes from Interstate 81 and only 25-minutes from Grayson Highlands—one of Virginia’s most treasured state parks—Blue Ridge Discovery Center is the ideal launch point to explore one of the most biodiverse landscapes in the world!

Ideally located within 30 miles of popular destinations like Damascus, Marion, and Abingdon, you and your guests have dining and entertainment options in town after a day immersed in nature.

Facilities

Schoolhouse: Residential rooms available with a 70 person sleeping capacity. These include 2nd floor bunk rooms that sleep 2 to 6 people per room with private bathrooms and 3rd floor suites with shared common space. This building also has options for using the classrooms, library, chapel, dining hall, commercial kitchen, and outdoor amphitheater.

Field Station/Campground/Pavilion: The BRDC Field Station is a large building with a full kitchen, electricity, and restrooms. The Field Station is ideal for scout groups and researchers doing field study. This seasonal facility is unavailable during the winter months.

cancellation policy

Cancellation by Participant

Notice of cancellation must be submitted in writing (mail or e-mail).
Refund will be issued in the same manner payment was made.
Cancellations prior to 30 days before start of event will receive a
full refund, minus $50 of registration fee. Cancellations received
within 30 days of event start date forfeit full refund.
Request for cancellation due to illness, accident, or death in the
family requires documentation. Upon receipt of documentation,
a full refund minus $50 registration fee will be issued. Verification
must be received no later than 30 days after the scheduled event
date. Please allow 4-6 weeks to receive your refund.

Cancellation by BRDC
BRDC reserves the right to cancel or alter some aspects of a program
or event, including program/event itinerary, dates, location or
duration, as a result of unforeseen circumstances, or for any other
reason. BRDC is not responsible for costs incurred by a participant
in preparing for a program/event that is altered or cancelled.
