Sweet Cherry: Prunus avium
Ripe in Independence, but only a few on the trees due to a late frost. Disappointing because they are delicious!
Just about the only wild edible I can reliably find in March is the wild Allium (most likely Allium vineale, aka Crow Garlic). The ones we find have thin, round leaves that have a garlicky scent when broken. They look a little bit like garlic chives rather than cultivated garlic (Allium sativum). You can gather the greens fresh at this time of year.
